This two minute video clip was filmed on Tuesday, May 2, 1978 at the GMC Truck & Coach plant in Pontiac, MI. and broadcast on WXYZ-TV's Channel 7 Action News.

On May 2, 1978, the Southeastern Michigan Transportation Authority (SEMTA) and GMC Truck & Coach held ceremonies to unveil to the media the first five SEMTA "Series 03" RTS-II coaches that were earmarked for the Detroit Department Of Transportation (DDOT). Meanwhile, WXYZ-TV Channel 7 reporter Jack McCarthy went behind the scenes at the Pontiac facility to take a sneak-peak at the inner workings of a wheel-chair lift RTS still under construction. .

early 1950s. DSR coach #1034
(one of Detroit's first GM diesel
buses) also featured in this film.

2,600 Grumman 870 buses
in 27 cities were taken out
of service to repair cracked
A-frames on the buses. ABC
