THOSE ODD & LESSER KNOWN DETROIT TRANSIT OPERATIONS
On Tuesday, December 17, 1968, the DSR launched the
Christmas "park-and-ride" Minitrain. This open-air DSR train
provided a 10¢ breezy (and I might add, chilly), loop through the
downtown area during the Christmas Holidays. The train carried
shoppers from the Grand Circus Park Underground Garage to the
J. L. Hudson Department store. The 55-foot traveled from Grand
Circus Park, up Madison, John R, Farmer, Gratiot, State and
Washington Blvd. back to the park, stopping at regular bus stops.

But for the most part, the DSR "Minitrain" spent most of its
service life operating on Belle Isle during the summer months.
